one more time

one more time

i am corrosive fabulous

Satirically rich

endemic of impudence

praying in ditch

to she who found outbound

signal forward fallen back

into times when we were alive

fostered by notions of the young

i miss that look in your eye

i know it will not spark anew

pontificate but do not preach

we’ve all driven down this road

vertigo sky bursting open in palm

of my hand as i face the same as ever was

but i am not who i used to be and so

everything has dimmed a little

i can see rust and the dust

wear, and tear

dents and bents and scratches

you could do with a new paint job

no longer enchanted by your luster

of soft manufactured values

muddled, befuddled, and caught in last light

i didn’t remember your name

until the other night

i always wonder why ink

is so black, standing above cool

of your brazen skin

i felt i thought i read your name

on the back of my hand

but no, when i looked again

mirror showed me shame

stain the culprit with poison arrow

don a crown and name us Laszlo

Slavic, not that Disney shit

the Norse in my blood screams to make war

i force facade of temperance

my shield is of service

i live as another and accept

penance bestowed

i slick back remorse

but i’ve repented enough

these words have more meaning

than your slap and shove

nickel arcade nonsense and one side

shoebox shine

i am just counting days and biding

until the time is right to strike

lightning in genie bottle

pull my cork and imbibe

i may believe in Jesus

but that don’t mean I’ll take a dive

eyes used to have meaning

but menace is all they now see

some of it is mine

but not all of it was me….

  1. Good to see you! Sending healing vibes, which I know can be an internal war. These lines were exceptional:
    “these words have more meaning
    than your slap and shove
nickel arcade nonsense and one side
    shoebox shine”
Because you, my friend, see through that façade, no matter how shiny they make it.
