Eyes grind limestone

Words of cement

Sawdust and blacklung

Fissure and crevice

Glacial impositions

Of quiet magnitude

calm animus in

half-life of

atomic decay

little clocks

will not take

slow affliction

painted in silence

marked on stone

bitter heart

laws inland

multiplicand of

crushing forces

creating tiny grains

slipping through

all of those

grasping fingers

you are the first

of your kind

last to grasp

finality of time

in the ending

etched all over

shapes of zeroth

quartz and carbonate

kinetic, tectonic

what you once were

compress and macerate

brushed from hand

onto lonely beach

once mighty mountain

you are sand

now you know

where you stand

still, you do not

I, greater than
